The Duchess Who Disappeared TOTK Quest Walkthrough

Exploring the vast frozen peaks of the Hebra region in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom leads Link into numerous memorable side adventures. Among these quests, tracking down missing legendary figures offers both narrative satisfaction and useful equipment rewards. Finding the famous shield surfer Selmie requires navigating icy terrain and overcoming subterranean rock barriers.
Starting the Quest in Hebra Mountains
Before players can begin this search, they must first complete the main story events surrounding the Rito Village region. Once the local weather settles, travelers can head toward the snowy slopes to meet Fin, one of Selmie's devoted students. Fin sets up a smoke signal while worrying about his mentor, who went missing after attempting to map out a new shield surfing trail.
Locating East Biron Snowshelf Cave
Following the trail down the slope leads adventurers toward a hidden cave entrance beneath the ledge. Inside the passage, progress is blocked by a heavy wall of cracked rocks that requires explosive force or heavy weapons to clear. Breaking through the obstruction reveals Selmie trapped near a bonfire inside the cave, waiting for someone to clear a way out.
Rescuing Selmie and Returning to the Lodge
After Link clears the rock wall leading toward the canyon, Selmie expresses her gratitude and invites him to her cabin on Hebra Peak. Fast traveling closer to the summit allows Link to easily drop down toward the bonfire marking Selmie's Lodge. Speaking with Selmie and her gathered students inside the lodge officially completes the quest and unlocks future surfing challenges.
Claiming the Strong Zonai Shield Reward
As a gesture of appreciation for her rescue, Selmie presents Link with a high-durability defense item. Players who keep an empty inventory slot will receive a Strong Zonai Shield to assist in their ongoing travels across Hyrule. Completing this endeavor opens up specialized shield surfing minigames across the mountain slopes.
